Comment of the (insert time period here)

The regime had another bad day in court.  Same players involved (less Kagan), worse outcome for the regime.

Link is here for transcripts, etc.  Highlights covered here.

As I said before, BS does not fly well with the Supremes.

Anyhoo, your comment of the (insert time period here) belongs to Alex Kirk, who in response to the above article succinctly stated:

"At moments the transcript reads like a Monty Python skit"

Bonus material provided via Orson Swindle:

"They'll fight out the scrum with two weapons: bribery and bullshit. Bribery gets a bad name, but at least it's genuine. Bullshit, at any latitude, is just bullshit, and is the Nerf Battleaxe carried into battle by someone with no other resort. It has its own bravery, admittedly. It also crumples the minute you hit it with something hard like facts, or better still, a real live goddamn battleaxe."

Today in Schadenfreude

A few things jump out here:

-Not one mention why the pensions are being frozen. Not one. Instead of "what can we do to help" it's GIMME GIMME MINE MINE. Person after person just sits there with a bewildered look on their face, shocked and repeating the same endgames. Which is funny, because it's almost like all appearing above were reading from the same script.
-Surprised nobody mentioned the word "bailout".
-This happened. Really, it did. When profits were plunging at the Times these 1%s GOT PAID.

Evolution is a funny thing. When you don't evolve, you cease to exist.

The Times hasn't evolved. They are dying. Which is truly ironic, because all these progressive f$%ktards claim to believe in evolution.

Project Update

Link is here, and also along the right sidebar.

Still entering data and gathering info, so it's still very primordial. Again, all feedback will be graciously accepted.

ed-I hate blogger.  Does anyone know how to edit a post without unnecessarily inserting spaces between lines?

A Project

Obamacare, in my opinion, represents everything that's wrong with our Federal government.

It was branded as lifesaving, cost cutting, and a general cure-all for the woes of the health insurance industry. It was to be passed on an "up or down" vote. It was to be constructed with great transparency by the will of the people.

Instead, this maggot infested legislation was created behind closed doors by special interests. Votes gained were partisan and bought on the taxpayer dime. It was "deemed". There really are "death panels". Every day we find out how reality contradicts the intent of the legislation.

In general, virtually every promise that was made to the public regarding the scope and impact of this legislation has been broken.

So this is my project until November: every week or so, provide a list of every person who voted for this charlie-foxtrot socialist garbage. Provide updates next to their name. I want to actually document every politician's walkback of their vote, especially those who are up for re-election this fall.

I ask that any reader offer their suggestions on how to construct this. As of now, I will list the name, party affiliation (don't care if unnecessary), and color-code each entry. For example, if a certain Senator were up for re-election and to use the Nuremberg defense for their vote ("following orders"), the font of the quote will be yellow.

Version 1.0 will be up soon.

A Message

-We here at Double Standard Industries (tm) wish to express our sincerest apologies for lack of posting this week. Life got in the way. So did Flyers' brand of hockey (see The Nittany Turkey link to the right for details), which is part of life and is redundant to this paragraph.

Posting will resume in earnest soon. Complete with the usual perversion of the English language that is more than commonplace on this fair site.

Your Saturday Raging Hangover Music

Today's hangover is courtesy of Flyer's hockey and Dan's Cafe in Adams Morgan.

A bitter, stinging hangover. And none of my friends will come over and put me out of my misery. Losers.

Anyhoo, listen to some Pixies.

Lazy Homemakers

I love the old Bugs Bunny Cartoons. They were brutally funny. And once in a while, the writers hit on something decades ahead of their time. Like this:

Maybe Hilary Rosen should watch this video a few times. You know, when she isn't visiting the White House or trying to push SOPA down our throats.

On a side note, the soundtracks for these cartoons were an order of magnitude better than any of the non-Pixar drek being spewed out of Hollywood.

...And We're Back

Final tally: 4 rudderfish (one got the largest fish pool), 2 porgies, and 1 vermilion snapper. Not bad, but no cobia. Everyone else got one, but I'm not bitter. Selah.

I love hockey; it's the sacrifice. The way that pain will take the backseat to making the right play. The selflessness, the team work.

I love the way I feel when shutting downl the opposing team's best scorer. Making people bang their sticks off the boards in frustration. Drawing retaliation penalties. Jumping in after the whistle to help my teammates. Shotblocking, the numbness, and getting right back out there the next shift. New bruises. Occasionally bailing out the goalie.

I love when the game ends and I get to pat the goalie on top of the helmet.

I even love the smell of the ice.

The playoffs up the drama. Let coach Lavvy explain it:

So the Spring is always special for me as the postseason begins. This season more so: my Flyers play our bitter cross-state rival the Penguins. I loathe the Penguins, and everything about them. And I'm sure they feel the same.

If you don't like hockey, I suggest you watch at least one game of this series. Tonight is a prime example of how truly awesome and dramatic just one game can be. I will post the highlights when available. For now, the only thing I can do to relax is to take some old pain meds.

ed-here's the deathblow.

Go Flyers.

Your New Quote of the Year:

Comes from Althouse commenter Pogo, in reaction to polling regarding the Supreme Court and Obamacare:

"If we shoot down Obamacare in self-defense, the news will call it racism"

Sick. Burn.

Well done Pogo. Show some love and visit Pogo's blog.

update: please scroll through all the comments on the above linked Althouse post. Pogo kills it. NOTE do not taunt Pogo.

Napoleon Issues Warning the Supreme Court about judicial activism. I say again: the President is issuing a warning to not reject his precious along partisan lines. I have many problems with that:

  • The legislation was passed without one Republican vote. Not one. Doesn't this mean the legislation was passed along partisan lines? Hypocrite.
  • There are four supremes that lean left, four that lean right. One of them is more independent. If Kennedy goes against the mandate, it will be as an independent.
  • So, the four Justices that will probably be voting against aren't exercising judicial activism?

He is in so far over his head. My wish would be Napoleon try and swim on his own for just one week. No teleprompter, no press, etc. Let's take the training wheels off and see what happens.

    I'm not holding my breath.

Regardless which way the court goes, I just don't see it as a positive for the One.
